Agriculture Minister William Ruto said that, The African Development Bank (AfDB) will spend 2.2 billion shillings (about 32 million USD) on revitalizing the agriculture sector in Kenya. Ruto says the bulk of the funds from the AfDB would be spent on improvements to nine irrigation schemes in nine marginal districts, mainly dealing with the production of horticultural crops. Plus, he noted that poor infrastructure and marketing structures and unreliable rainfall had hampered the growth of the agricultural sector in Arid and Semi Arid Lands(ASAL).
